Our Volunteers

Udyam is very grateful to the contribution of its volunteers over the years. They have been key to the success of Udyam’s operating model.

As a result of the opportunities and experience offered by Udyam it has been able to attract truly dedicated and committed volunteers. Several people approach Udyam each year with a view to volunteers based on the testimonials of their family members and friends who have at some point been associated with Udyam.

Udyam attracts a large number of volunteers from IIT, Delhi which is located close to Udyam centres. Udyam has also earned the recognition of and is registered as an approved organisation for volunteering with the Delhi School of Social Work (DSSW) of the University of Delhi; the global students’ organisation AIESEC; iVolunteer and Youth Reach. We have also hosted Fulbright Scholars from the US as teaching volunteers.

We also encourage past students who have completed schooling with assistance from Udyam to volunteer and support the currently enrolled students as staff teachers or mentors. Having spent several years with Udyam they are closest to the things we are doing well and those that need improvement and hence, their feedback/ inputs are invaluable.

Udyam truly believes the thing that keeps bringing the volunteers back day after day is the fighting spirit and the heartfelt gratitude of the children.

TESTIMONIALS

“The kids were not brilliant or extra-ordinary but they were determined to earn respect in society. It felt amazing to contribute in achieving their goal.”

Chetan, taught Science and Mathematics (2010)

“Although I devoted my time for these activities, I guess it was me who got benefited. It inculcated some sort of confidence in myself. It created a character into me. I became more patient with life, realising that I was one of the lucky one to get so much in life. There were thousands and lakhs which are not lucky like us. I stopped cribbing about small things which we may have missed in life. All of this helped me in my career too. So, the final thought which always keeps me engaged –

‘I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything; but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.’

Thanks a lot to UDYAM PRAYAS for giving me opportunity to contribute something for the society”

Sandeep Jain, Entrepreneur, taught mathematics and involved in organizing various extra-curricular activities

“My tenure at Udyam not only helped me connect to people from different walks of life but also gave me a fantastic opportunity to nurture as a human being. The helping hands at Udyam are just amazing, I was influenced by their selflessness to such an extent that once I joined the corporate life, I ensured to be a part of the charity group and help the needy in one way or the other…Neeru ma’am is the greatest ever mentor and I would positively encourage as many volunteers to join the Udyam family and reap the benefits of doing good deed and receive endless love from some very naughty yet innocent children.”
